5 Signs Your Contractor Website Is Costing You Jobs

Your website should be your best salesperson. Here are five signs it is quietly turning customers away, and what to fix.

For most contractors, the website is the first impression a customer gets long before the phone ever rings. If it is slow, confusing, or looks dated, that customer clicks back to Google and calls the next company on the list. Here are five signs your site is costing you real work.

1. It is slow on a phone. More than half of your visitors are on mobile, standing in a driveway or sitting on a couch. If your site takes more than a few seconds to load, most people leave before it even finishes. A fast, mobile-first site keeps them there long enough to call.

2. Your phone number is hard to find. It sounds obvious, but on a huge number of contractor sites the phone number is buried in tiny text at the bottom. It should be at the top of every page, tappable, and impossible to miss.

3. There are no photos of your actual work. Stock photos fool no one. Homeowners want to see real jobs you have done, before and afters, crews on site, finished results. Real photos build trust faster than any headline.

4. It does not show up on Google. If someone searches your service plus your town and you are not on the first page, your website might as well not exist. That comes down to how the site is built and how it is optimized for local search.

5. There is no clear next step. Every page should tell the visitor exactly what to do next, call, request a quote, book an estimate. If they have to hunt for it, they will not bother.

The good news: all five are fixable. A website built to load fast, rank locally, and turn visitors into calls will pay for itself many times over. If you are not sure how yours stacks up, we will give you a free audit and show you exactly what to improve.
